From autumn pleasures to holiday treasures . . .

Driftwood Garden Club members have been very busy this fall!

In the past month, members have put the gardens to bed at the Abbot Library, traveled to Bemis Farms for a holiday greens workshop, created another beautiful holiday room at the Hooper Mansion, and designed delicate holiday "vignettes and niches" at Rosie Dalton's holiday workshop.

Here are a few photos that capture the spirit of the month. If anyone has photos of the Hooper Mansion decorations, please send them to me, and I'll put them up!

And from last night: a collage (of sorts) of vignettes-- sparkly, festive, natural, woodsy, colorful

And last, but not least, some lovely early fall photos from members' gardens-- thank you Janice and Nancy.

A day out at Pickity Place

Last Saturday, the Driftwood Garden Club traveled north to Pickity Place in Mason, New Hampshire. It was a chilly, peaceful day in the countryside as we explored the gardens, the greenhouse, the cottage that inspired the illustrations for Little Red Riding Hood, and the eclectic gift shop. Of course, the highlight of the day was the multi-course gourmet lunch in the cottage dining room.

Here are some photos from our day:

Lots of raised beds to grow herbs and veggies for the restaurant . . .

There were so many garden paths, gates, and garden "rooms"

It was nice to see lavender, zinnias, daisies, and other flowers still blooming

A little anemone

Rosie wore her pink hat to add fall color

Sadly, I didn't manage to get everyone together for a group photo

We wondered if this might be okra . . .

Star anise?

The grandmother's room in the cottage!
